From the Jacksonville Business Journal:
Unprecedented sell-outs are putting the Jacksonville Film Festival on target to surpass last year’s attendance despite having a reduced line-up, the event’s executive director said.
Jesse Fernandez said the festival may be able to surpass last year’s attendance, as potential attendees are less intimidated by the range of offerings and venues. Unlike last year, the majority of the films are screened at the 5 Points Theatre in Riverside.
He said each screening averaged about 150 to 200 attendees, with even the less popular morning screening filling up to 75 percent capacity. Fernandez said the festival would be moved to October next year so it doesn’t have to compete with the Cannes Film Festival, which is taking place this week, too.
