Should Insurance Companies Use Credit Scores?

That’s a question the Florida Legislature is pondering.  Florida CFO Alex Sink is adamantly opposed to the use of credit scores in determining insurance coverage and rates.

Insurers have argued using the scores helps them better determine good risks from bad ones. But [Alex] Sink and Sean Shaw, the insurance consumer advocate, said the explanation doesn’t wash. Or as Sink puts it:

“That’s the same kind of BS that they gave me when they came to meet with me,” Sink said.
