JFRD Improves Diversity Recruiting

JFRD’s new recruitment class—its most diverse in his history—sees the departments past struggles with diversity as a challenge to overcome.  

Over the past few years, Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department has been saddled with concerns over racism and discrimination. As the department tries to move past such difficulties, those in charge have assembled the most diverse class of recruits in city history.

“It’s a challenge and great career move, and I think you have to be in the right state of mind to do that,” said future firefighter Berlinda Tookes.
