FL TaxWatch: 42 ways to save $2.5 billion & enhance State revenues

Florida TaxWatch has issued a report that will result in the State saving approximately $2.68 billion in cost savings and revenue enhancements if the report’s 42 recommendations are implemented.

The recommendations include:

• Renegotiating non-client-service contracts.

• Selling or leasing unnecessary or underutilized state assets.

• Expanding virtual higher education offerings.

• Evaluating IT expenditures/purchases for non-essential employees.

• Eliminating unnecessary duplication in reading programs and services.

• Collecting all the federal aid that Florida has earned.

• Increasing tax compliance.

• Maximizing flexibility for class-size reduction.

• Consolidating the management of state assets.
